About Hydrohotel.net
Hydrohotel.net publishes news about the poet and novelist Richard Price, based in London, England.
The site also includes sample poems, literary criticism and reviews by him on a host of authors and subjects. It is named
after a now long-gone hotel in the village of Kilmacolm, in the
county of Renfrewshire, Scotland. The hotel was a place of informal and formal talking, fun, legal meetings and illicit ones. You could see for miles from its high tower, but you had to be careful not to fall off.
Comments about the site, or questions to the author, can be sent to
the hydrohotel.net email.
Richard Price is represented by the Maggie McKernan Literary Agency for fiction and film rights.
hydrohotel.net has been archived by the British Library's UK Web Archive since 2005.
Statistics
The site was started in January 2005, with 92 hits per month (7 visits). By
January 2006 it was receiving 4,914 hits per month (396 visits). A year later this was 8531 hits
per month (953 visits), and in January 2008 it was operating at 11,363 hits per month (1537 visits).
In January 2009, it received 21,560 hits (2414 visits). At first this figure appeared to have more than doubled in January 2010, when it
was operating at 47,267 hits per month (6421 visits per month), but the site had been hijacked by what appears to have been a firm diverting traffic to fake hydrohotel pages (selling pirate IT equipment). After some puzzlement and the purging of said pages the statistics for January 2011 show growth has continued since 2009, though not so stratospherically as unknowingly working on the black market: 3797 visits in that month.
